Author: Kayley Terlesky

Breweries and distilleries have become more than just places to grab a cold beer or sip on a strong spirit. They are now vibrant hubs of creativity and community, offering unique flavors, immersive experiences, and a glimpse into the artistry behind craft brewing & distilling. In this blog post, we dive into the fascinating world of a few local Canmore breweries and distilleries-- from their history to the diverse range of flavors they offer. Join us on this tantalizing journey as we explore the essence of these operations and the delightful experiences they offer.

BLAKE Brewhouse and Distillery:

Originally built as an automotive garage, BLAKE was transformed into a fine dining restaurant in 2017, with its very own distillery and freshly brewed beers, established in 2019. This uniquely styled hot spot, sits nestled on the corner of William Street & Bow Valley Trail (highway 1A). As you walk in the clear glass doors, you are welcomed to an atmosphere of warm welcomes, catchy tunes, and striking décor.

Location: 810 Bow Valley Trail, Canmore, AB- T1W 1N6

It is no secret they brew some of the best beers, pilsners, IPAs, and stouts in house all for you to taste: such as, Tailgater Pilsner, “Berate me Later” Blonde, Canmore Coal Nitro Stout, just to name a few. If you aren’t a beer connoisseur, they also distill their very own hard spirits as well: for instance, Double Barrel Negroni, Three Sisters Vodka, & Midway London Dry Gin, plus a few more! Dare to take your taste buds on a wild ride, safely consuming some of the most deliciously, locally handcrafted alcohol this mountain town has to offer? BLAKE is the place for you, your friends, and family (of age of course)!

For your pleasurable desires, they have their very own tasting room you can book ahead of time, where the staff is dedicated to giving you the ultimate tasting experience! I recommend ordering their tasting flights, where you can choose 5 different, or the same, types of beers or RTDs (Ready to Drink Cocktails) for you to explore!
